A huge national park with peaks up to 3200 m, waterfalls and Big Almaty Lake at ~2500 m.
Kok-Tobe
Kok-Tobe hill with its gondola and viewing deck over Almaty — a calm, family-friendly spot with views of the city and the mountains.
City promenades
For an easy walk without the climb, there are landscaped riverside promenades along the Yesentai and Malaya Almatinka rivers — a great option for a relaxed family outing.
A base for exploring
It's convenient to explore all of this while staying in the mountains. Country House in the Medeu district at 1500 m is a quiet cabin by the park, close to Medeu and the Kok-Zhailyau trail.
